The Belgian Tervuren is a breed of medium to large-sized herding dog that originated in Belgium. It is a member of the Belgian Shepherd breed group, along with the Groenendael, Laekenois, and Malinois. The breed is known for its intelligence, loyalty, and athleticism, and is often used as a working dog in a variety of roles, including as a police dog, military dog, and search and rescue dog.

The Belgian Tervuren is a long-haired breed with a distinctive sable coat. It has a square, athletic build with a strong, muscular body and a proud, alert posture. It has a wedge-shaped head with a long, pointed muzzle, and its ears are triangular and erect.

Belgian Tervurens are intelligent and highly trainable and excel at a variety of activities, including obedience, agility, herding, and tracking. They are energetic and need regular exercise, and do best with a job or purpose to keep them mentally and physically stimulated. They are generally good with children and other pets if they are properly socialized from a young age, but may be reserved or suspicious of strangers and may exhibit protective behaviour if they feel their family is threatened.

Due to their high energy levels and need for regular exercise and training, Belgian Tervurens may not be well-suited for apartment living or for first-time dog owners. They require a lot of attention and can be demanding, but are also highly loyal and devoted to their families.
