Originating in where else but Havana Cuba the Havanese is still a fairly un-common breed in North America. They have a double coat with the outer coat being more course and the the undercoat being very soft. The Havanese is a small non-shedding breed that requires little exercise but does love a good walk. They range in size from 7 lbs to 13 lbs and grow 8 - 11 inches at the withers proportionate to their wait. They range in colours as well from chocolate, liver, buff, cream, gold, black and blue and can have a curly, wavy or straight coat. The Havanese breed is known for it's intelligence, springy step and agility. The Havanese breed itself has little genetic health issues unlike many other breeds who have been over bred in years past. The Havanese is happy, friendly dog that loves to lay with you when they aren't playing fetch or romping around the yard. They make great family companions and live well with other dogs.
