The Mexican Hairless, also known as the Xoloitzcuintli or Xolo, is an ancient breed of dog that is native to Mexico. It is a medium to large-sized breed with a distinctive appearance, characterized by a smooth, hairless coat that ranges in colour from black, bronze, or grey to pink, red, or a combination of these colours. Some Xolos may have a small amount of hair on their head, paws, and tail, but most are completely hairless.

Xolos are intelligent, loyal, and protective, and they are known for their strong territorial instincts and their ability to bond closely with their owners. They are generally calm and dignified in nature, but they are also alert and ready to defend their territory or their charges if necessary. They are generally good with children and other pets, but they may be reserved with strangers and may require socialization to become more outgoing.

Xolos are energetic and need regular exercise and mental stimulation to keep them happy and healthy. They are not well suited for apartment living and are best suited for owners who can provide them with plenty of opportunities to run and play. They may also require more grooming than some other breeds due to their smooth, hairless coat, which requires regular bathing and moisturizing to prevent dryness and irritation. Xolos may also be prone to certain health problems, such as skin allergies and dental issues, so it is important for potential owners to be aware of these issues and discuss them with a veterinarian or breeder.
